For Immediate Release
Cameron, Missouri, May 2022: The Chamber Economic Development Committee met on May 2nd for a joint work session with the Cameron City Council and on May 4th for the regularly scheduled meeting. Following are the highlights of the two meetings.
The Chamber committee is currently assisting with 5 active prospects for companies looking to grow, move, or startup in the Cameron Community and has received 3 requests for information since April. The group welcomed new Councilman, Mr. Williams, to the meeting and took the opportunity to update those in attendance on the current process. Further discussions included: Mr. Rumery continuing to complete the documentation to declare the Cameron Industrial Park as a certified site, an update from Mr. Russell on a brochure about Foundations in Cameron which will be distributed to individuals who would like to give back to the community through charitable giving, and the need to continue to locate properties and buildings for business opportunities.
The team also discussed the promotion of the Cameron Industrial Site by hosting a visit from KCADC (Kansas City Area Development Council) to view our location. The Chamber Committee is a member of KCADC which provides leads to businesses looking to operate in an 18-county Greater Kansas City region. KCADC’s clients consistently rank them the No. 1 Regional Economic Development Group in the nation. The Chamber committee continues to foster this relationship to promote Cameron through KCADC.
Additionally, the group reviewed the process of updating the Labor Study through Fort Hays State Docking Institute of Public Affairs whose primary mission is to facilitate effective public policy and decision-making between governmental and non-profit entities. This survey will be used for evaluating the skill level of employees and to inform employers of labor availability and training needs for positions in Cameron. Once the data is collected it will be provided to interested prospects. To find out more information about this process please visit https://www.fhsu.edu/docking/index-old .This project will require additional funds to complete.
