1st Cameron State Bank

1st Cameron State Bank with branches located at 124 S Walnut and 515 Platte Clay Way (North of Walmart) is the 2nd Chamber Business Spotlight for September. Originally named Cameron State Bank, 1st Cameron State Bank was chartered April 2, 1965. The bank has 14 employees along with: Charles R. (Chuck) Adamson, Pres./CEO; Jeff  Wallace, Senior Vice President; Ryan Lockridge, Executive Vice President and Nena Cross, Vice President and North Branch Manager.

Providing banking services and being customer oriented are the main focuses of the bank. The bank prides itself for being known as a “friendly” place to do business, the first line ladies of the bank are credited with the bank’s friendly reputation.

Original Cameron State Bank, chartered in 1965, was the result of approximately 150 mainly Cameron residents who were stockholders, basically a community effort to start a new bank in Cameron. In 1974 Chuck Adamson and original, now deceased partner, John C. Clark of Pittsburg, KS purchased the bank. For various reasons in 1986 the bank was converted to a Federal Savings Bank and in 2009 the charter was changed back to a State Commercial Bank, 1st Cameron State Bank.

For approximately 20 years owned and operated a branch facility in Memphis, MO (formally Farmers and Merchants Bank of Memphis). Built and operated a branch bank in Lawson, MO for 5 years.

Recently retired Fred Kling, who had been with the bank for approximately 45 years, served as President and Director of the Bank for several years. The bank has two employees who have been with the bank over 30 years, three over 20 years and one going on 47 years!
