Cameron Mutual was started by a group of farmers in 1892 who could not obtain insurance through a standard market. The name of the company at that time was “Farmers Mutual Tornado, Cyclone and Windstorm Association of the Third Congressional District at Darlington in Gentry County, Missouri.” The home office moved to Cameron in 1902. The company’s name was changed to Cameron Mutual Insurance Company in 1968.
When ask their main focus it was stated: “We strive to provide quality property and casualty insurance coverage for our policyholders’ personal, farm and commercial insurance needs. Our insurance promise is sold exclusively through independent agents who are local to many communities in the states of Missouri, Iowa and Arkansas. Specifically, Cameron Mutual focuses on providing Farmowners, Businessowners, Commercial Property, General Liability, Commercial Auto, Inland Marine, Umbrella, Personal Auto, and Homeowners insurance.”
